CREATE LOCATE ON EIGHT
The task for this project was to create a campaign to celebrate CCS Communication Design & Strategy by utilizing a creative zone found in the current identity. The deliverables included 3 motion pieces that are 7, 15, and 30 seconds long, a vlog, and 3 carousels for Instagram with 3 posts for each. The prompts given were: we think, we make, we play. As students in the CD&S we explored how this department has allowed us to grow and learn, and decided to highlight the resources it contains but in a fun, playful way that is true to both the brief and the CD&S department. Our campaign takes inspiration from the yellow box, reimagining it as a playful 3D object with each of the 6 plains representing a resource on the 8th floor. When flattened, it serves as an identifier for each room. Overall, we aim to blend creativity, fun, and practicality, embodying the spirit of thinking, playing, and making.
With all that in mind, we decided to gamify our campaign. It became a hunt to find and discover all of the resources on the floor. But, everything begins and ends with the yellow box; the creative zone which allows us to think, play, and make. We think inside the box and enter the yellow box and realize it is not just a 2-dimensional zone but 3d with so much more to explore than we originally thought. The 3D cube turns into the plains for the 6 resource rooms we have on the 8th floor. We took inspiration from first-person POV video games. We looked at the interface, stats, and icons used and created a fun creative space showing off our CD&S stuff.
The takeaway from this project was concepting and working as a group passing files around and having multiple people working on the same things simultaneously. This project is special to me because, through our collective minds, we came up with a concept that I could never do on my own. At CCS I have found a love for collaboration creating ideas and concepts as a team, working through creative problems, and creating a clever solution.
